How Could a Move Program Improve Educational Performance?

Physical movement is a child's first language, and it is through movement that they first starts to explore the world and to gain control over their body. It is the foundation in which learning is built up on. If this foundation is rocky or not maintained then it will play a roll in their abilities to learn and retain information well.Multiple studies show that physical activity activates the brain, improves cognitive function, and is correlated with improved academic performance (Donnelly & Lambourne, 2011). Any kind of physical activity, not just movement associated with the material we’re learning, can benefit students academically.Muscle tone and primitive reflex integration play a large roll in developmental of mature motor patterns and a solid foundation for learning. For kids (or adults) with a hemispheric deficit, adding in multiple sensory input to help balance the brain coupled with a solid movement program ( core strength, primitive reflex integration, crossing the midline, and crosscrawl patterns) canbenefit an individual academic performance very possibility.A great book on this is Disconnected Kids.
